WHY WE TRAVEL

To Honor Our Daughter's Legacy

We are the Bacuyani family of six. We have always loved to travel and explore together. We have been traveling the world any chance we get, with our 3 boys, since 2012. But it wasn't until a tragedy in 2021 when our lives dramatically changed, that inspired us to start traveling full time.

In 2020, our beautiful baby girl, Amelie Grace, joined our family. She was born four months premature, weighing only 1 lb. 4 oz. In 2021, when Amelie was 4 months old, we moved our family across the country, from Oregon to Ohio, to receive the best medical care possible for our daughter.

Six months later, we were devastated and heartbroken when Amelie left this earth for heaven, after her 10 month battle in the NICU. She touched our hearts in such a big way in her short life. She taught us to be present, appreciate every moment, and love without reservation.

Amelie helped us realize how precious time with family is. We want all the time we can get with our kids. So, we decided to pursue full time family travel to create lasting memories with our precious children, bringing Amelie along in our hearts.

ABOUT US

Angie & Daniel

We met at the rock climbing wall, 20 years ago while in college in the Napa Valley, California. It was love at first sight and a year later we were married.

We finished college together in California. Angie got her Master's degree in speech-pathology and Daniel in marriage and family therapy.  After graduate school, we moved back to Oregon, where Angie was born and raised. Angie worked in the school district for 5 years and Daniel worked as a case worker with foster kids.

After 10 years of marriage, we had our first born son. Angie opened a private practice for speech therapy to have more family time and Daniel left his full time job to stay home with the kids and work part time at a fly-fishing shop.

We had 2 more amazing sons in 2015 and 2018 and our precious daughter in 2020. Family is our number one priority. Watching our kids grow gives us the greatest sense of joy and there is no one we would rather spend time with.

HI. I'M HUDSON.

I’m 9 years old and in third grade. My mom knows I’m really a sensitive soul, but I act like a cool tough guy most of the time these days. I love a good challenge. Either for my brain, like a Rubik’s cube or a difficult chess match. Or for my body, like doing a backflip or playing a fast paced soccer game. I love to go on adventures with my family and explore new places. So far, I’ve been to 10 states and 8 countries. I’m excited about adding more to that list during our big family adventure in my little sister’s honor.

HI. I'M BENTLEY.

I’m six years old and I’m a middle child. If you have a middle child, you probably already know we kind of need a lot of special attention. I’m pretty good at getting that necessary attention by giving plenty of hugs or wrestling my brothers and parents. I also love to make them laugh with a good joke or impress them with my many magic tricks. I also love to surprise others with anonymous gifts or some of my artwork. Mom says I have a pretty big heart and also big brown eyes just like my baby sister did. ❤ If you have a good joke to share with me, I would love to hear it. I will be sure to share the love and pass it along to others on our upcoming adventures. Here’s a joke to get you started: “how do you make a tissue dance?” “Put a little boogie in it.”

HI. I'M MICAH.

I’m three years old. Mom says I have sparkling eyes that are both endearing and mischievous at the same time. I’m a pretty incredible snuggle bug and very in tune with other people’s emotions. I immediately notice when mommy or daddy are having a sad moment, missing my Amelie, and I do my very best to cheer them up. Mommy says my smile is contagious and it’s pretty hard not to smile right back at me. I love trying to keep up with my brothers on all their cool tricks. My hidden talent is water-bottle flipping and my nick-name is “Snack King”. I love singing at the top of my lungs and my favorite song right now is “Way Maker”.  I hope you have fun following along on our adventure journey of healing over the next several months. Cheers!
